Villa Albertine San Francisco Brings Bay Area Culture with a French Accent

On January 28 at the Legion of Honor Museum, Villa Albertine San Francisco launched an exciting new season of cultural events highlighting the grand tradition of French-American friendship and artistic exchange. Villa Albertine is a French cultural institution with outposts in 10 US cities, including San Francisco. Each year, Villa Albertine presents innovative programming nationwide including 50+ residencies for international artists, thinkers and cultural leaders.

Guests that night were welcomed by Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco Head Curator Emily Beeny and newly appointed Consul General of France in San Francisco, Florian Cardinaux. Villa Albertine Director and Cultural Attachée Sabine de Maussion unveiled an ambitious slate of upcoming programs, including an intriguing new partnership with Burning Man, which will participate in the production of the annual program Night of Ideas. This free public event convenes thought leaders, artists and community members to engage in public discussion around major contemporary issues. The evening also featured a live conversation between upcoming Villa Albertine resident Marine Kisiel, Curator in charge of the 19th Century at the City of Paris Fashion Museum and professor at San Francisco State University. This is the 3rd annual Villa Albertine launch event, and proceeds support Villa Albertine San Francisco’s annual programming.
