San Francisco Filmmaker’s New Movie is a Love Letter to California

The historic Vogue movie theatre in Presidio Heights was the scene for a gathering of proud, born-and-bred San Franciscans showing up in support of a home-grown piece of cinema: the San Francisco Premiere of the award-winning feature film Jaunt by SF native Alexi Papalexopoulos. On July 13, over 200 guests turned out for the invite-only event, which featured a red carpet, opening remarks by actor and producer Arianna Papalexopoulos and a Q&A hosted by producer Geoff Callan, whose previous films include Pursuit of Equality. This SF-based road trip movie recently won the prestigious Audience Award at the to the LA Greek Film Festival.

Guests at the premier included the films’ star Blake Worrell, as well as a who’s-who of San Francisco including the up-and-coming talent of SF natives including director Alexi Papalexopoulos, actress and producer Arianna Papalexopoulos, actress Siena Newsom Callan, and Boon Johnson, all of whom were making their feature film debuts in Jaunt.

Also in attendance were Jeffrey Allard (Texas Chainsaw Massacre); international sensation DJ Goshfather; Alex and Deedee Papalexopoulos, Gordon Glogau, Charleston Pierce; Robert and Barbara Callan, and PlumpJack President Hilary Newsom Callan.

Jaunt follows the adventures of a washed-up photographer and a free-spirited Frenchwoman who, in the aftermath of a one-night stand, set off on a road trip to San Francisco. Filmmaker Papalexopoulos said of the production,

“We filmed across the entire state of California, with the last four days of production in San Francisco. Without question, this film is my love letter to my beloved and native San Francisco.”
