SFMOMA’s Donor Event with Carmelo Anthony and Derek Fordjour

SFMOMA hosted former NBA player Carmelo Anthony and artist Derek Fordjour in dialogue with Christopher Bedford for Intermedia: Dialogue Across Disciplines, a donor event on June 4, 2024.

More than 100 guests attended the lively, hour-long conversation on the surprising and inspirational connections between sports and the arts. Carmelo Anthony, Derek Fordjour and Chris Bedford discussed their personal approaches to art collecting, supporting contemporary artists and philanthropy. The speakers also added insights into the emotional experiences that attract audiences to the exceptional work of athletes and artists. Guests for this stimulating private talk and cocktail reception included SFMOMA’s Director’s Circle and Curator’s Circle members, other members of the donor community, and museum supporters with an interest in contemporary art and sports. Intermedia: Dialogue Across Disciplines is SFMOMA’s new donor event series, and André 3000 and Devon Turnbull participated in the inaugural program in February.
