Sherri McMullen and Christopher John Rogers Celebrate Intersection of Art and Fashion at de Young Museum

On May 30 the de Young Museum was the site of a special celebration of designer Christopher John Rogers, a fast-rising rising star first championed by Bay Area fashion leader Sherri McMullen. The evening began when guests were ushered into a private viewing of the de Young’s current exhibition, Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style. The exhibit features two pieces by Rogers from McMullen’s personal collection.

The crowd then adjourned to the Hamon Tower Observation Deck for a sunset cocktail reception with 360-panoramic views of the city. There, Sherri and Christopher had an intimate chat about life and fashion, followed by a special presentation of Rogers’ current 013 collection. The fusion of fashion and art was on full display as guests got the opportunity to discover Rogers’ striking designs firsthand, each a testament to his singular creative vision.

Trailblazer McMullen is known for championing emerging voices in fashion, whose creations are on display in her eponymous boutique in Oakland. A strong advocate for BIPOC designers, McMullen’s pioneering spirit led her store to be tipped as one of the top boutiques in the country by VOGUE and Women’s Wear Daily.
