On March 29th, ODC hosted its annual gala to benefit its dance company, ODC/Dance. More than 450 dance enthusiasts and arts boosters gathered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for an evening honoring ODC’s Founder and Artistic Director Brenda Way. Recently inducted into the California Hall of Fame, Way was recognized with live remarks delivered by Honorary Co-Chair Laurene Powell Jobs. Powell Jobs was joined at the event by other local luminaries including San Francisco Mayor London Breed, philanthropist Michael Hormel and Gala Chair Navid Armstrong.
The sold-out gala featured an exciting live performance by ODC/Dance, which included the world premieres of A Brief History of Up and Down by Way, Inkwell by Associate Choreographer Kimi Okada and a remount of Dead Reckoning by ODC Fellow KT Nelson.
Founded by Way in 1971, ODC is a groundbreaking contemporary arts institution. Its world-class dance company and theater program are known nationally for their artistic innovation and community engagement.
