When crossing the threshold of San Francisco’s stately Grace Cathedral, it’s safe to say most visitors probably aren’t expecting to be met by a room full of masked revelers and a live brass band. But that’s exactly what guests found on March 4, when Grace Cathedral hosted an annual gala with a Mardi Gras theme, co-chaired by Dr. Robert J. Brown and Erin McCune. Partygoers turned out dressed in their most colorful formalwear for a night of music and dance, Big Easy style.
The party got started with a rousing welcome by the Twilight Brass Band, greeting guests as they ascended the cathedral’s broad steps and entered a space transformed, the cathedral exquisitely decorated with gold and purple flourishes by Heather Rice Events. Guests mingled beneath the soaring ceilings for a lively cocktail hour, before sitting for a lavish, multi-course meal that ended with a special king cake dessert provided by Jane the Bakery. The celebration continued into the night as The Late Night Revelry party kept the Mardi Gras spirit alive.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and sponsors, the entire event successfully exceeded the $1 Million goal with all proceeds directly supporting Grace Cathedral’s innovative ministries and inclusive programming.
