Experience the refresh of El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen, featuring 27 beautifully remodeled rooms. Situated in the heart of downtown Sonoma, this historic hotel is a welcoming destination after a day of exploring Sonoma Valley’s wine country.
The first of two renovation phases focused on creating warm and comfortable accommodations for guests, while evoking Sonoma’s historical legacy. Each guest room has French doors that lead to a private balcony overlooking Sonoma Plaza, Spain Street or the hotel’s garden courtyard.
The rich jewel tones and bold accent walls are juxtaposed with plush Matouk luxury linens, and vintage-inspired rugs, a nod to the hotel’s location along the historic California Mission Trail. Their warm modern furniture and light fixtures are paired with well-appointed armoires complete with an honor bar stocked with locally sourced snacks and beverages like Sonoma Coast Spirits, Golden State Sonoma Creamery, Rustic Bakery, Golden State Cider and more.

Bay Area-based designer Nadine Curtis feels the proximity to nature, lush vineyards, and local community inspired the new design’s playful energy while keeping a laid-back Sonoma aesthetic.
EDK Cantina
El Dorado Hotel has also reopened EDK Cantina, a Mexican kitchen outpost that offers locally-sourced ingredients. Executive Chef Armando Navarro has designed a casual menu, featuring tacos, platos, and anojitos (small bites), for hotel guests and to go for passerby. Dishes include taquitos, quesabirria, chicken enchiladas, nachos, al pastor tacos, more.

In concert with the remodel, El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen has introduced a variety of guest packages. A recent experience featured Pick Your Picnic and includes a parking pass for Jack London State Historic Park, an El Dorado Hotel throw blanket, a takeaway EDK Cantina lunch for two, and a signature tote bag.
What’s Coming in Phase 2
In 2026, El Dorado will complete phase two, which will feature enhanced public spaces, including a revamped hotel lobby and guest lounge for wine tastings, private dinners and other events. The solar-heated saltwater pool will feature a complete refresh of its seating and cabanas. The final touch will be a design refresh of El Dorado Kitchen’s main dining room and patio, the hotel’s signature restaurant.
