George Mark Children’s House Hosts 20th Anniversary Gala

George Mark Children’s House marked a milestone with its 20th Anniversary Gala held at the iconic Fairmont San Francisco on October 25th. This special evening brought together more than 500 donors, families, staff and board members to celebrate two decades of unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to seriously ill children and support for their families.

The event featured remarks from founder Dr. Kathy Hull, CEO Shekinah Eliassen and award-winning author Amie Lands. Adding a personal touch to the evening was former George Mark patient Charlie Cleberg, who recounted his experience and the profound impact the organization had on his life, alongside his parents Kathy and Joe. The gala was emceed by Betty Yu of KTVU.

Azadeh Riaz, founder of House of Azadeh, contributed a gift certificate for her couture and re-couture services to our Gala auction, offering guests the chance to experience her unique craftsmanship. The gowns she created for Founder Dr. Kathy Hull and CEO Shekinah Eliassen also brought a special elegance to the evening, helping to raise meaningful funds for their cause.

The event underscored the organization’s legacy of supporting families during challenging times. Founded by Dr. Kathy Hull, who was honored that night with a City of San Francisco proclamation and a commendation from Congressman Eric Swalwell that was inserted in the official Congressional Record, George Mark Children’s House provides a uniquely compassionate palliative care experience, helping families when they need it most. Funds raised by the 20th anniversary event will support the expansion of the organization’s services.
