Sutter’s California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) proudly celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program with its first-ever Comedy and Cocktails event on October 9, raising $650,000 to support no-cost breast cancer services for women.
The Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program was founded by Shelby Notkin and his daughter Michelle Notkin. The program has been instrumental in providing specialized services to women in the Bay Area and beyond, and has helped 30,000 women since its founding in 2004.
The vibrant evening, held at Bimbo’s 365 Club, brought together breast cancer survivors, Sutter Health leadership and healthcare workers to celebrate two decades of life-changing care for breast cancer patients. Popular stand-up comedian and breast cancer survivor Tig Notaro was on hand to bring the laughs.
Funds raised will directly benefit the Notkin Family Program at CPMC’s Breast Health Center, which offers comprehensive breast cancer support services, including nurse navigation, individual and group counseling, nutrition advice and post-surgery comforts like free camisoles, to support women throughout their cancer and healing journey. The success of the Comedy and Cocktails event will enable the program to continue offering essential support, while also expanding its services to include genetic testing and counseling.
