The Weapons of Light Foundation hosted its first annual gala at Martin Lawrence Galleries in Downtown San Francisco on October 19. Weapons of Light is a new foundation launched by San Francisco conceptual artist Philip Lawson, which funds the creation of new art and the promotion of peace. The artwork of some Foundation grant recipients was on display at the gala, creating a beautiful and eclectic backdrop.
Guests were also treated to an immersive culinary experience by Chef Lionel Haeberle. The night’s soundtrack was provided by a quartet headed by the San Francisco Symphony Assistant Principal Cello Amos Yang. There was also an auction with works by Philip Lawson, Brian Wall, Prabin Badhia, Julia Lillard, Elliot Jung and Xie Xiaoze up for bidding. The funds raised at the gala will support artist grants, and also raised money for the Bethlehem House of Bread, an orphanage in India.
