ODC’s annual fundraiser, Fall for Art, was held at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art on September 29. A favorite autumn event for dance lovers, ODC’s innovative company this year offered a slate of new works to delight their fans and benefactors. An intimate and inspiring affair, attendees gathered to celebrate and enjoy performances by ODC/Dance and ODC Dance Jam, the company’s resident teen dance company.
The dances performed that afternoon included I Damn Sure Do, choreographed and performed by Brandon “Private” Freeman and Rachel Furst; Sunny Side Up, choreographed by Mia J. Chong and performed by ODC Dance Jam; and Journey from choreographer Dexandro Montalvo performed by both the ODC/Dance company and the ODC Dance Jam. The beautiful dance pieces were staged outdoors, with the rolling hills of di Rosa’s grounds as a backdrop.
Guests also enjoyed an al fresco lunch served family style, provided by McCall’s Catering & Events. Bay Area VIPs like Navid and Bill Armstrong, Lilian C. Tsai and Stanlee Gatti dined on luscious seasonal dishes including roasted salmon medallions and red and white quinoa with delicata squash.
This was the 35th year ODC has celebrated the season with its autumn benefit, and the sold-out Fall for Art event helped raise welcomed funds to support scholarships for ODC’s Youth & Teen Program, and the development of new dance pieces for ODC/Dance Company.
