The San Francisco Design Center Galleria was transformed on August 2, as The Salvation Army brought the outdoors inside with living plant installations and colorful bouquets to mark their annual Flower Power Gala, which supports the organization’s life-changing programs.
This year, guests came decked out in their finest floral garb, to celebrate The Salvation Army’s innovative homeless initiative, The Way Out. This program supports unhoused individuals struggling with addiction through a treatment-on-demand model, helping people rediscover their potential and renew their sense of hope for the future.
Major Matthew Madsen, Divisional Secretary for San Francisco said, “The Way Out initiative is The Salvation Army’s plan to engage our unhoused neighbors struggling with substance abuse disorder. We aim to restore the dignity and agency of every individual.”
On top of supporting such a worthy program, gala attendees enjoyed the floral designs of Jun Pinon, a highly anticipated silent auction, a fabulous dinner and an afterparty hosted by Adam Swig’s non-profit, Value Culture. Awards were also given. Cammy Blackstone was honored with the Woman of Dedication award and Leslie Bauer, was surprised with the national Exceptional Service award for her 17 years of serving as chair of the event. Since 1883, The Salvation Army has been serving the San Francisco Bay Area, offering practical support, spiritual comfort and a critical safety net to people in need. This year’s Flower Power event will ensure continued support for some of our community’s most vulnerable individuals and families.
