It’s “Secret Season” at Tahoe’s Everline Resort & Spa

Ski season may be months away, but that doesn’t mean our favorite Tahoe resorts are idling until snowfall. These summer/early fall months often provide the best in a mountain getaway. During this “secret season,” warm days fade to cool nights, wildflowers continue to grace the hillsides and valleys, and the snow that formerly blanketed mountainsides transforms into glorious waterfalls. And activities? They abound. Visitors can partake in hiking, biking and golf, to name just a few of the region’s attractions. And delivering such fun, and more, is Everline Resort & Spa at Palisades Tahoe.

Celebrated as the esteemed host of the 1960 Winter Olympics and renowned as the third largest ski resort in North America, Palisades Tahoe offers the quintessential year-round mountain retreat, thanks in large part to its upscale mountain getaway that seamlessly blends natural splendor with luxe amenities.

“Secret Season” Activities

Gracious accommodations aside (Everline boasts a number of room configurations and suites that are perfect for families), it’s the bevy of happenings that appeal to all ages. The large Oasis pool, heated to just the right temp year-round, is the heart of “secret season.” With enough chaise lounges to negate early morning “saves,” the gathering spot also features three whirlpools, a children’s pool, a 90-foot waterslide, and friendly poolside beverage service. Surround-sound speakers subtly diffuse pop tunes that add to the carefree atmosphere.

The resort’s activity lawn is a gathering place for all ages. Partake in cornhole, giant Jenga, chess, Connect 4, darts, and ping pong. Or gather a group for a spirited soccer match. In the evening, when the sun starts to hide behind the mountains, the lawn is illuminated by overhead lights and twinkle lit trees. The effect is magical.

Golf enthusiasts can enjoy The Links at Everline, which offers a challenging course with four family-friendly tee-off spots. Situated at the base of Palisades Tahoe at an elevation of 6,200 feet, the par-71 championship course spans 6,931 yards from its gold tees.

The serene Spa at Everline offers the ultimate in personal indulgence; book an Everline Wellness Massage, or a Hydrating Restorative Facial (the perfect antidote to high altitude dry skin) and just try not to drift away in slumber. Included in the experience are separate men’s and women’s dry sauna and steam, and a soothing sanctuary in which to relax and recharge. Next door to the spa is a 24-hour fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment. Pedal an exercise bike while viewing the latest televised sporting event, or hit your daily step quotient with a treadmill walk that features resort views.

If al fresco exercise is more your style, start your day in with a Nature Trail Walk that winds along the foothills of the Resort Chair ridge. Embrace the tranquility of the forest while meandering among the shaded canopy of trees. Ramp-up your heartbeat with something a bit more challenging on Olympic Valley’s additional varied trails that lead to mountain peaks. Some of these same trails can be explored via bike, and Everline offers E-Bike Rentals, Hybrid Bike Rentals, and Mountain Bike Rentals for cruising around Olympic Valley or along the Truckee River.

Anglers love Everline’s on-site Fly Fishing Center that offers The Pond and River Package in partnership with Matt Heron from Truckee River Fly Fishing Guide | Matt Heron Fly Fishing. Heron offers a three-hour Cast N’ Catch fishing class on the resort’s private stocked ponds off the Truckee River. Guests can book this experience directly from the Everline Summer Activities page.

And if shopping is your thing, you need not leave the Everline property for the best in fashion, outdoor gear, jewelry, games, toys, and logoed merchandise. The sheer variety available within Everline’s shopping promenade makes it a destination for both guests and locals.

Everline “Secret Season” Cuisine

Everline features several on-site restaurants, all of which feature fresh, seasonal cuisine and house made items: Six Peaks Grille is a fine-dining, destination steakhouse overlooking the stunning Olympic Valley (open Wednesday – Sunday). Sandy’s Pub is the perfect spot for family-friendly, casual dining: think burgers, ribs, milkshakes and crafted cocktails, served al fresco on the patio or inside where a communal bar and tables are poised towards televised sports. Cascades Restaurant serves a bountiful breakfast buffet daily, and Bearshine Café is a cozy coffeehouse with baked goods, smoothies, and ice cream. (Bearshine also stocks a variety of grocery and personal supplies, eliminating the need to leave property for forgotten items). Additional dining options are available at nearby Olympic Village to which guests can walk via the shaded forest trail, or take the complimentary Everline shuttle, which makes frequent drop-offs and pick-ups.

The Lake

And what’s a visit to Tahoe without a peek at the lake? That complimentary Everline shuttle also delivers and picks-up at Tahoe City, where you can spend the day on or near Tahoe’s ultra-blue water before returning to the comfort of your Olympic Valley digs. The shuttle runs from 9am -11am, and from 3pm-5pm.
