17th Annual California Hall Of Fame

Former Speaker of the California Assembly and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown Jr., award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, chart-topping band the Go-Go’s and seven other luminaries were inducted into the California Hall of Fame on February 6 by Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The induction ceremony held at the California Museum was also attended by family members of the posthumous 16th class inducted in 2023. The California Hall of Fame is the California Museum’s signature program, supporting its mission of education, and includes on-site and online exhibitions inspiring visitors to make a mark on history. This year’s artifact exhibition is now on view and features special items on loan from the 17th class, including a guitar played by Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s, basketball star Cheryl Miller’s Olympic gold medal, a wax figure of Mayor Willie L. Brown, and a sketch of the November 22, 1977 three-network demonstration of the Internet hand-drawn by Vinton G. Cerf. Learn more at CAHallofFame.org.
