On Friday, September 22, Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen and the San Francisco Symphony kicked off the Symphony’s 112th season together and Salonen’s fourth season as Music Director, with a celebratory Opening Night Gala. The Gala concert featured Richard Strauss’s Don Juan, Gustav Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer, and Anders Hillborg’s Rap Notes. Co-chaired by Amy Christodoulo and Julie Liegl, the Opening Night Gala celebrations began with a red-carpet welcome with sparkling wine and light bites for all attendees.
